A Muslim terror suspect, who shot and wounded a police officer, has escaped conviction on serious shooting charges after a Sydney judge found that “anti-Muslim sentiment” made him fear for his safety.
The judge found that he had a loaded gun hidden down his trousers when police approached him, not because he intended to shoot the officers, but because he feared for his safety.
