Iraq – Feeding Christian families 20-246

Country/Region: Africa, Iraq, Middle East and North Africa

20-246

Since the US-led invasion of Iraq and the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003, Iraqi believers have been a target of anti-Christian violence. Three-quarters of the country’s Christian population had fled Iraq to neighbouring countries between 1990 and 2013. However, lately the situation for Christians has become even more desperate. At least 160,000 Christians have been displaced by brutal Islamist militant violence in northern Iraq since June 2014.

This project provides a range of food parcels, clothes, bedding and medical aid for local churches to distribute to the poorest Christian families. We are also providing accommodation, which includes providing a tented camp for displaced Christians, in order to help them survive. The amount varies with availability of funds and the exchange rate, but a typical sum for a food basket £34 (US$55) per family per month.

    • Continue to remember Pastor Tandin Wangyal, who is serving a prison sentence of almost four years in the small nation of Bhutan, only because he received funds from outside the country to help support his ministry. Ask God to sustain our brother at this time, so that he will draw comfort from God’s grace. Pray that his faith will not fail. Subscribe to the prayer points rss feed Sat, Dec 2014 00:07
