A scene from the aftermath of the anti-Christian violence in Orissa, India
|
In December 2007 and again in August 2008 Christians in Orissa state were subjected to wide-scale violence in which 60 were killed, especially pastors. Hundreds of churches and thousands of Christian homes were destroyed, leaving 56,000 displaced, many of them living in tented camps or the jungle. Barnabas Fund has been helping in a variety of ways and now we are concentrating on providing simple permanent homes for the families who are still homeless. A house costs around £700 to build.
