Taimur and Nosheen with their three children
|
Taimur and his wife Nosheen along with their three children, Simon (7), Aryan (4) and Aniya (1), left their house to escape the deadliest flood in the history of Pakistan. When the gushing waters receded, the family returned to their house to find it severely damaged by the flood water. Nosheen told me, "It was a shock, and my years of savings were ruined, I could hardly hold my tears back. My biggest challenge was a shelter for my family."
At the request of the local church, Barnabas Aid helped to repair the flood-affected house, and within a month Taimur and his family were living in the renovated property. Nosheen said, "Prior to the reconstruction of the house we were extremely worried about how to restore our devastated lives. Our house, which I so lovingly cared for, was in shambles but thanks to our church and their friends at Barnabas Aid, we are able to live a more dignified and respectable life. I can only thank God and pray for the Barnabas Aid. Now I know what it means to be part of the Body of Christ."
As a Barnabas Aid representative I was so warmly welcomed by Taimur and his family - it was as if they were welcoming a family member. I was so relieved to see smiles on their faces, which on my previous visit were full of worries and distress.
