Egypt – Christian School for Disabled Children in a “Garbage City” 11-599
Country: Africa, Egypt, Middle East and North Africa

Some of Egypt’s poorest Christians earn a living collecting, sorting and reprocessing rubbish in the “garbage villages” of Cairo
Many Christians in Egypt eke out a precarious, squalid and dangerous existence by collecting and sorting household refuse. They live amongst the refuse itself in desperate conditions. This school provides an education and specialised care for disabled Christian children from the garbage city. There are also facilities for vocational training so they can learn skills to help support themselves when they are older.
