The Lord has promised, "I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint." (Jeremiah 31:25)
“Pray for us to know what balance to strike so that Christians who are a minority in Muslim-majority areas are not victimised and that their witness would endure!†These are the words of a Kenyan Christian leader, writing to Barnabas Aid about the dilemma of the draft new Kenyan constitution. It has many good aspects that would benefit the Church, but it would also permit the creation of Kadhi courts (Islamic courts) Christians object to this provision because it would “elevate one religion over the otherâ€. The draft had originally limited the Kadhi courts to a 10-mile coastal strip that used to be the area of influence of the Sultan of Zanzibar. But this was spotted by Kenyan Muslims in November 2009, and they began to demand that the draft be amended to allow Kadhi courts in the whole of Kenya.
