Bible Studies

As we look around our world, afflicted by war, poverty, disease, famine and disaster, the age-old question “Why does God allow suffering?” is posed with greater force than ever. The majority of Christians live in the non-western world and are increasingly vulnerable. Furthermore, all of us face our personal situations of suffering – broken relationships, sickness, sorrow and bereavement, disappointments etc. If God is all-loving and all-powerful, why does He not prevent this suffering in the world He has created? Or at least protect His people from such things?

The Bible gives many answers to the question “Why suffering?”. The following five Bible studies are intended to help Christians look at the main biblical themes related to suffering. The studies are primarily designed for use in small groups, but they can also be used for individual study.

Bible StudyAs you work through these studies below (click each to open), think not only of your own personal situation, but also of Christians in situations of oppression and persecution, where Barnabas Fund is ministering.
