A pastor in Plateau State, Nigeria, was abducted by gunmen on the evening of Sunday 11 September.
Pastor Bun Fon Dong was taken from his home in the Ganawuri community of Riyom Local Government Area.
His wife, who tried to free him from the kidnappers, was shot in the leg. She was later taken to hospital by some neighbours.
A member of the community reported that large numbers of gunmen arrived on motorbikes at around 8.30 in the evening.
“Residents who were alerted by their gunshots ran helter-skelter, but they [the gunmen] forced themselves into the official residence of Pastor Dong,” he added.
In June 2022 the Christian Association of Nigeria reported that at least ten church ministers had already been abducted this year, and that two had been killed by their captors.
