Gunmen killed a Nigerian pastor’s two sons and abducted his daughter after invading his family home in the early hours of 6 July.

The incident occurred at around 2am as the assailants stormed the house.

Pastor Daniel Umaru is recovering in hospital having sustained gunshot wounds but remains in a critical condition. His wife is still in a coma induced by shock.

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri condemned the attack as shocking and barbaric, ordering security personnel to pursue the attackers to rescue the abducted 13-year-old daughter.

“The State Government condemns in the strongest terms the despicable attack on this innocent family; the perpetrators of this heinous act must be brought to justice, and we have offered our full support to the Security Agencies to do so,” Fintiri said.

It was in Adamawa State on 5 March that Nigerian Christian Sheriff Yongo, 25, was ambushed and murdered by suspected Fulani militants as he walked home at night from a church convention.

Pray that Pastor Umaru and his wife will recover from their ordeal and that their daughter will be released by her captors unharmed. Ask that the family will know the Lord’s comfort as they come to terms with their loss.
