It is with sadness that we report the death of Ebrahim Firouzi, an Iranian Christian convert from Islam, at the age of 37.

Ebrahim, who had experienced both imprisonment and internal exile in Iran, was buried on February 22. At his burial his family informed mourners that he “died of a heart attack” on February 20.

Ebrahim was originally arrested in 2011 for involvement in a “house church”, possession of Bibles and promoting Christianity.

After spending more than six years in prison, Ebrahim was released in October 2019. He was then exiled for two years to Sistan-Baluchestan Province, a remote region of Iran around 1,000 miles from his home near Tehran.

Sources say Ebrahim’s body was discovered at his apartment by his brother after there had been no word from him for several days.

Give thanks for Ebrahim’s faithfulness to the Lord and that he is now released from sufferings and with Him in glory. Pray that his family will know Divine comfort as they mourn the loss of Ebrahim (Matthew 5:4). Pray that the Church in Iran will draw strength from the example of his perseverance and faith.
